Week 18

Week 18

Fruit/Veggie/Item
bell pepper

Size
Our baby is about 5 1/2 inches long and weighs 8 ounces

Baby Changes (Source: www.babycenter.com)
The baby is busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. Her blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and her ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from her head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place.

Best Moment this Week
Seeing family at Thanksgiving

Gender
Girl!!!!! :)

Movement
I have started feeling the baby more and more this week! I have felt something everyday. I love it :)

Food Craving
I have craved Dr Pepper this week (more than usual) and had to give in at 9pm at night to go get one:) I try to only drink one a week, but it's been more like 2 a week lately…maybe that'll get better:)

Sleep
Sleep has been digressing…I haven't been able to sleep in even though I've had the whole week off and I wake up with a really sore back as well. I am hoping it's a short stage… And should we even talk about the dream?! I have had some of the craziest dreams of my life. Last night I woke up SWEARING a huge snake was chasing after me. I still remember it's fangs. Scary. I've had other very weird dreams that have nothing to do with my life that are strange as well. In the beginning when I first found out I was pregnant I had nightmares that Casey would die or be in a life-long vegetable state. I think that was because I was afraid to have a baby alone. I'm glad that those sad dreams are over…they would ruin my entire day!!

What I am looking forward to
Buying baby furniture & beginning to clear out the baby's room! Since I've had the week off I've done a little bit of online window shopping! I am also looking forward to Casey feeling the baby move - I feel her and then wish Casey could, too.

Symptoms
Sore back and weirdo dreams. I've yet to get sick and throw up and I'm hoping it stays that way:)

Telling Casey

I never did share the story or pictures of the night I told Casey I was pregnant…It was September 3rd and we were out to eat at Chuy's in Dallas. I mentioned that I'd like to go to the Galleria real fast because I had ordered a Christmas present for him at a store there and it was in. I told him that I needed the keys so that I could go put the present in the car before we met up. At this point I still hadn't taken a pregnancy test, but I was so sure that I was pregnant I wanted to go ahead and buy some A&M and UT booties at the huge college store (I believe it's called Student Union) that the Galleria has. I had looked everywhere in previous days and couldn't ever find anything. Anyway, they didn't have the booties/socks either, but I ended up getting a UT onesie and an A&M onesie. It was funny because the cashier asked me who was having a baby and I said, "Me, but my husband doesn't know and this is how I am telling him." The guy seemed so shocked and it made me a little nervous to tell Casey! Haha! Men!

Anyway, I put the bag in my purse and pretended that the store didn't have my present yet and off we went…

Casey dropped me off at home and went to a high school football game. He was only gone for an hour, so I immediately drove to the store and bought two pregnancy tests, came home, turned out that I was right, and instead of letting the information sink in I immediately began making Casey a card to go with the onsies. I lit candles in the bedroom just to make it seem special and put the bag with the onesies and the card on his night stand. When he came home I made small talk with him in the kitchen while he got a drink of water, etc. When he walked into the room I asked him to go open his present on the nightstand. He immediately pulled out the card and knew (since it said "We're having a baby!" really big on it). He laughed and said jokingly "what have we done?" At that moment it clicked in my brain and I brought my hands to my face and sobbed for about 5 minutes straight. I am sure Casey thought he had hurt my feelings with his joke - even though he hadn't at all - because he started saying a million things like "Are you okay? It's going to be fun! It will be so fun having a baby! I can't read what you're thinking right now. Are you okay?" Finally I was able to tell him that I wasn't sad, but it was more just hitting me and I was a ball of emotions! Haha. It is actually quite funny looking back on it. I wasn't sad or happy or anything - just shocked! I didn't even give myself a second after taking the test to breathe or think - I just went right ahead to making a card and getting ready to tell Casey!

After I finally calmed down he looked into the bag and saw the two little onesies. We immediately began to talk and get excited at that point. We made plans to go get books the very next morning. That's pretty much all you can do that early on. I also made a doctor's appointment for the next week and found out that I was already 8 weeks pregnant!

Here are some pictures from that memorable night!
Well, that was the story! September 3rd and now it's already been almost 3 months! Time is a flyin'!

Baby Changes (Source: BabyCenter.com)
My baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Best Moment this Week
Cutting the cake and finding out that my precious baby is a girl at the party!!! Also, the 3D sonogram on Wednesday was sooo fun! Casey & I love seeing her on the screen move around! So neat. I am blessed to have a husband who goes to every appointment with me and seems just as interested as me! I am also so blessed to have gotten 4 sonograms in only 4 appointments. My doctor is so nice and caring, and I am lucky to have gotten a 3D sono for FREE!

Week 16

Week 16

Fruit/Veggie/Item
avocado

Size
Almost 4 1/2 inches from head to bottom and weighs 3 1/2 ounces

Baby Changes (Source: BabyCenter.com)
In the next few weeks, the baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Best Moment this Week
This week was low on pregnancy stuff - last week was the week where I first felt the baby and when I went maternity shopping for the first time. I guess my favorite day this week was mine and Casey's 6 year anniversary since our first date - we went to Simply Fondue and talked about how crazy it was that 6 years later we are married, living in our first house, and having a baby! :)

Gender
4 more days until the 3D appointment next week!!

Movement
Have only felt the baby move two or three times - looking forward to more of it!

Food Craving
Caesar Salad, fruit (especially apples), and popcorn and jalapenos!!

Sleep
sleeping better at night but waking up in the mornings with a really sore back! Been sleeping with a pregnancy pillow some to see if it helps.

What I am looking forward to
my 3D appointment on November 17th and finding out if the baby is a boy or a girl!!

Symptoms
sore back and that's it!

Week 15

Week 15

Fruit/Veggie/Item
apple

Size
Almost 4 inches from head to bottom and weighs 2 1/2 ounces

Baby Changes (Source: BabyCenter.com)
The baby is busy moving amniotic fluid through the nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in his/her lungs begin to develop. The baby's legs are growing longer than his arms now, and he can move all of his joints and limbs. Although the eyelids are still fused shut, he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, he's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but he/she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl!

Best Moment this Week
Pretty sure I felt the baby move for the first time this week! I was sitting in class while my kids were taking a quiz and I felt a little poke on my left side. I look forward to more of that! :) Also, today my mom took me shopping for maternity clothes and I actually had fun!! I got a pregnancy pillow, some belly butter, a back brace, several shirts, 2 camisoles, a pair of jeans, and a pair of black dress pants for work. :)

Gender
11 more days until the 3D appointment next week!!

Movement
Felt the baby for the first time on 11/5 :)

Food Craving
Caesar Salad, fruit (especially apples), and popcorn and jalapenos!!

Sleep
have begun to wake up less to use the bathroom and more due to general discomfort and back pain. Bought a pregnancy pillow today and am hoping that and the back brace help!

What I am looking forward to
my 3D appointment on November 17th and finding out if the baby is a boy or a girl!!

Symptoms
achey back and sometimes after I eat it feels more difficult to breathe…but nothing I can't handle :)
