Interesting.

I am in my millionth day of staff development. I am super tired. I have been staying at the school late everyday getting my room ready and working on lesson plans. Today I got there at 8am and left around 7:15pm. I never would've thought that I would work over 11 hours in one day. That's just not me-I'm not an overachiever, haha. When I left school at 7:15 tonight I went straight to Momentum (the youth church service). I ended up getting home at 10. Wow. I considered not going, but I decided I would go ahead because I haven't heard Casey talk in a while. He did really good too, so I am glad that I went! :)

Anyway, all that to say: I am tired, and school hasn't even started. Interesting.

San Antonio Here We Come!

In about two hours Casey and I are heading for San Antonio! This is going to be our vacation this year since we're poor folk. Actually, we are already went out of the country this year for vacation (our honeymoon to Jamaica), so I guess you could say another trip to San Antonio ain't that bad! ;) We're going to Sea World on Friday and probably dinner on the Riverwalk and then on to check out the Alamo. Saturday we're going to check out the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch (where you drive your car and feed all sorts of animals, including giraffes:), followed by dinner on the Riverwalk again. Sunday, on our way back to Rockwall, we are going to stop at the outlet malls in San Marcos and Round Rock and shop for school clothes! Very excited about that.

When I was five I went to Sea World in San Antonio for the first time. I had a BLAST. I still remember it. It is one of my favorite childhood memories. It is also where I met my favorite animal: the dolphin. I keep telling Casey that we need to set aside at least $20 for me to feed the dolphins. When I was five, the little fish cups were $2 a piece and we got 10 of them! I fed the dolphins for at least an hour. I adored them. So now, I am really hoping that the fish cups haven't gone up too much (but I am pretty sure they have). When we return we'll be sure to post some pictures from our trip!
Yay! Shamu!

I Just Can't Put Down a Good Book!

When I get a good book, I just cannot put it down. Sometimes Casey gets irritated with me for doing this because I will straight-up ignore him when I am reading a good book. One night he came home, and I was reading a Francine Rivers book, and he got so mad that I had been reading the whole time he was gone. He said I should've done the dishes. Maybe he was right, but that's not the point. The point is, when I get a really good book, I cannot do anything productive until I have finished it. Sometimes it is all I can think about when I am at school or work. I just can't wait to be home so that I can read my book of the week! Ha ha. Sunday we went to Kroger to grocery shop, and I found a book that I wanted to buy, and I already finished it. I read it in three days. It was almost 400 pages. I just can't help it. Because I am a reading teacher, I think I can place this trait under my pro list instead of my con list ;)

Bridal Shower Fun

This past Sunday I threw Lauren Smith (soon-to-be Stevenson!) a bridal shower at Mimosa Lane. It was fun to see the Mimosa People again and also Rachel & Amanda were there. Haven't hung out with either of them since Amanda's wedding! Here are some pictures from the shower!

What's Happening To Me?!

I have always been a night owl. I like to stay up late and play on the computer, read a book, scrapbook, watch TV, or sometimes even clean. Casey always knew I could stay up late, but I don't think it really sank in until we got married. During student teaching this wasn't really a problem because I was so darn tired that I went to bed early every night, but when April 11th (the end of my student teaching) hit-BAM! The Night Owl was back. Casey began to complain about this. He was still stuck in our old routine of going to bed at 10pm, but I didn't understand because he doesn't have to be at work 'til 9am. The whole reason we had been going to bed so early is because I had to be up by 6:45 or so. For a long time Casey kept going to bed at 10 and I would stay up 'til 2. Neither of us really liked this. He wanted me to go to bed at 10, and I wanted him to stay up with me 'til 2. Ha ha. When summer began he snapped out of it and wanted to stay up later...I don't really understand this logic though, because he still has to be at work at 9 everyday. What is it about summer that makes people go to bed later? And why couldn't he let his summer start on April 11th, when mine did? Wouldn't that be better anyway because by the time August hits, you feel like you've had the longest summer ever!

I also have another gift. I am able to sleep till mid-afternoon. I know, it really is a gift. Sometimes I can sleep for 11 or 12 hours without waking up. Some people are truly mesmerized by this gift. They cannot comprehend it. That is why I call it a gift. :)

But something has been happening lately. I have been feeling more and more tired earlier and earlier. Maybe it is because my body knows that in less than two weeks, I am going to have to start getting up with the sun again. I have also been waking up earlier. I have been getting up well before noon, and it is scary. Am I growing up? Are my college habits dying? It is sad, really. I have always enjoyed the fact that I can sleep in when I want to. Other people talk about waking up at 8am and not being able to go back to sleep even when they try. I am not jealous of those people. I am sad for them.

Maybe this is just a phase I am going through. Maybe it really is because the school year is approaching...I am just hoping that when next summer rolls around, I can still sleep in 'til 1pm if I want to! :)

The Office

About two years ago I watched The Office at my brother & sister-in-law's house (at that time they were just my boyfriend's sister and brother-in-law). I did not think it was funny at all. Casey didn't really either. Since then, the staff at our church, cLife, has bombarded Casey with The Office. He finally decided that in order to fit in, he too, needed to watch The Office. At first I was very against this because The Office comes on at the same time Smallville does. (Those of you who know me, know that I love Smallville.) Being that we're poor, we don't have a DVR. In fact, we have a VCR/DVD combo and often still tape shows on a VHS tape. Are we lame or what? Well, anyway, 7 o'clock is kind of a busy time for us, so we're rarely home. Because of this, Smallville won out and always got taped and The Office never did. However, this summer our youth intern, Matt Cain, gave seasons 2 & 3 to Casey to watch. I came home one day, and to my dismay, Casey was watching The Office. We have only one TV hooked up so I was a little disappointed at the fact that I could be watching The Office for several hours. I just sat in the chair with my computer for a while with the TV on and ended up overhearing some of it. As the episode went on I found myself laughing more and more. Casey even said something like, "See...I told you that you would like it if you gave it a chance!" Since then, I watch The Office when I am at home by myself. I cannot get enough of it. I hate to say it, but it has temporarily replaced Friends. I think that's because I just recently finished the entire series (started when we got married--it was Casey's wedding gift to me--& I watched 10 years of Friends in 7 months!)

All that to say, I love Michael Scott and The Office!!!

PS. I do still love Smallville, & I don't know which show is going to win the VHS prize this fall!
