Snow Day {2012}

As I said in my Christmas post, we got snow! A White Christmas, indeed! It didn't really start until the late afternoon/evening, so by the time we got home from my grandparents house in Mabank it was already dark and hard to take any decent pictures. The next morning was Dayton's first doctor's appointment so we made plans to play with Sawyer in the snow when we got home. Dayton had a double ear infection which really upset me and put a small kink in our plans, but nevertheless we played with Sawyer outside (mainly Casey) because she loved it! I took a quick picture with Dayton because it was his first snow and then whisked him back inside since he was sick - poor baby!

Here are the pictures we got that day…they make me look forward to having snow days next year or the year after when both of my kiddos can play in it together. I see many snowmen and snowball fights in our future! ;)

Love Me Some Snow Days

Friday was a snow day which meant sleeping in, watching movies, "snowman looking" (a lot like going to look at Christmas lights), and sitting by the fire! It was a great day! We slept in, watched THREE movies from Blockbuster, and literally drove around town looking at snowmen! It was fun stuff! I took pictures of some of my favorites and almost all of these are on OUR street! I don't know if I told everyone this, but at Christmastime there were only 2 houses on our street that didn't have lights! It was a lot like this for the snowmen! Probably due to lots of young families with small children on our street.

Lucy begged to go outside in the snow often on these few white days.
On to the snowmen!
I darkened the color on this one so you could see the detail - our neighbor is quite the snow sculptor! This Indian woman even has pets! At least I think it's an Indian woman...Haha.
And here is what we enjoyed all day on Friday! I love a good fire! Ours is gas, but still burns real wood, and I love it because it can get really hot! I also love the smell of the seasoned wood and the sound of it popping in the fireplace! Having a fire is probably my #1 favorite thing about winter!

Texas looks great in white, doesn't it?

This is what I woke up to on Thursday morning when I opened the garage door and I was shocked! I did NOT think there would be any snow and I was not prepared! I took a quick picture on my way out the door to school.
By the time I got to school it was apparent we would have ourselves a good ole snowball fight at recess! These next 2 pictures were taken on my teammates phone and emailed to me so they look a little different. Here are the kiddos at recess. If you look in the far right-hand corner, you'll see me trying to get away from all of the snowballs that had been thrown at me when I first entered the "fight."
Here I am running away again! Ha ha!
I took this picture from my classroom window.
This was when I got home from work that day.
Lucy absolutely LOVED the snow! She was hilarious in it!
You can see tons of snow falling in this picture!
Check out this funny video of Lucy in the snow! She loved it and acted like a little bunny rabbit hopping around! Very funny in person - don't know if the video will capture her true love for the snow=)
Attempting to make a snow angel, but I was wayyy too cold in jeans!
Casey & I having fun in the snow!
I brought Ella out in the snow to see how she'd like it...she didn't really.
Ella & I
Our house looks pretty in white!=)
The tree looks pretty, too!
Casey & our pitiful snowman with a strawberry nose!
It was a great day and I will post another post later about my snow day on Friday!
Hope you're all having a fantastic week!
