Lately Sawyer has said some of the most hilarious things and I just want to make sure I right it down so that I can look back and remember :)
One day we were going over the really tall bridge that goes from Hwy 30 Westbound to 635 South and Sawyer yells out "Momma, we're so tall!!!" Then when we got off she said "Momma, now we're short!"
We went to visit a friend's baby and Sawyer said "That's McKenna's baby. Momma, I want one." I guess Dayton isn't little enough for her anymore, ha.
I eat Chips Ahoy cookies and Sawyer always refers to them as "Momma's cookies." No other food in the house is referred to as "Momma's" or "Daddy's," but she knows the cookies are serious business. ;)
Sawyer will open the fridge and say, "Ummm…How about a chocolate milk shake?!" She just recently started to talking to us like she's an adult using words like "umm" and "like" or phrases like "how about."
Lately she tells us things from her baby doll's perspective, "Momma, my baby wants me to drink some milk." or "My baby doesn't want me to go to sleep yet."
When we just mention giving Dayton a spanking (which we do not do yet) she says very vehemently "NO! Dayton's too little to get a spanking!!" She gets very protective of him. I like it. Sometimes I pretend he needs a spanking just to get her worked up a little, ha ha.
Sawyer sings constantly and always combines all her favorite songs together: ABCs, Jesus Loves Me, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, & Ring Around the Rosies. Her favorite song to dance to is The B-I-B-L-E.
She cracks me up on a daily basis! :)

2.5 Years of Little SG!
Sawyer Grace is halfway to 3 and I can't believe it. When did that happen? She is now 36" tall and weighs about 25 pounds. She is mostly 2T clothing and wears pullups during the day and size 3 diapers at night (same size diapers as Dayton since he was 7 months old)!
Most people say "they are so sweet with a spunky streak," but with Sawyer we think it's the opposite. This little girl's got sass and I'd say she's spunky with a sweet streak. ;)
She's super, super verbal and says almost anything and will repeat us constantly. I've already learned that I need to watch what I say...including the attitude in which I say it. She's super perceptive and will notice if I am in a bad mood or not happy.
Sawyer loves school and has lots of friends there! She does so well there. She loves to come home telling me all about her friends, her teachers, and the buggy rides she took! She also loves telling me about Stretch-n-Grow and songs and toys and games she plays. This month's shape is a circle and she has been drawing them like crazy at home. So fun to see her learning. Her teachers tell me all the time that she is so nice and sweet and friendly at school. I've asked them multiple times if they ever have to correct or discipline Sawyer and they've pretty much responded that she's perfect...so I guess she's saving all of her fits and tantrums for us at home...and believe me, there are plenty! ;)
Sawyer has gotten more and more smitten with her little brother. She wants me to go get him as soon as she wakes up in the morning. She likes to play in the same room with him and wants to interact with him. She gives him hugs and kisses and tells him "good job, bubba!" when he does something she deems good. Ha ha!
I thought this would be a fun age to do an interview with Sawyer. The first time I tried asking her more than 3 questions in a row she ran away from pretending to be an airplane so I had to wait a while for a better attention span. ;)
Interview with Sawyer at 2.5 years old....
What's your name? "Sawyer"
How old are you? "I'm 2 years old. 2." (while holding up 2 fingers)
Where do you live? "Sawyer's at Rockwall"
What do you like to do with mommy? "don't know, momma, I don't know." When I explained to her what I meant she said "I play with Momma."
What do you like to do with daddy? "play with Daddy!"
What is bubba's name? "zero" (She got his name confused with his age) When I asked again she said: "Dayton!"
How old is Dayton? "zero" (and she makes a zero with her hand)
What do you like to do with Dayton? "I play Bubba"
What do you like to do at church? "play at church!"
What do you like to do at school? "play at school!"
What color do you like? "red and blue"
So as you can see, the common theme is playing. :) She hasn't gotten the art of answering questions down yet, but she sure can talk a lot without being prompted. Ha ha! I love my big 2 1/2 year old.

2 Months from 2!
Sawyer is 22 months old! Yikes! I almost have a 2 year old on my hands. Cannot believe it.
Here's what she's up to these days:
- talking up a storm - saying something new everyday! Recently I taught her to say "two" when someone asks how old she is…I know we aren't there yet, but I figured it would be too confusing to switch from 1 to 2 in just a couple of months, plus she needs the practice. ;)
- wearing size 3 diapers and ready to potty train. I just need to get my act together and start!
- wearing 18 month or 2T clothing
- playing with dolls constantly. Feeding them, kissing them, carrying them in her little carseat, etc.
- loving Elmo and Sesame Street! At some point everyday she brings me the "mote" (remote) and tells me "Elmo!" I can't resist when she does this.
- Giving us hugs and kisses - love love love them.
- playing well with others on playdates! Her current best friend is Avery (Kristin's daughter) and she talks about her often.
- She loves Mathis (Charlie's & Ginni's son) and talks about him every single day. We don't know why. Haha!
- She refers to Dayton as "Bubba" or "Dayton" or "baby" and will say "baby cries" whenever he fusses.
- She is into throwing away his diapers…but she has started throwing away clean ones, too, so I have to go find them every now and then.
- This past month she showed more independence in the Chick-fil-A playground. She wants to play in there so bad, but wants me to be in there, too. She cries when she notices that I walked out, but she is getting better and better. :)
- She went to "parents night out" at c|Life and had a blast! She didn't cry when we dropped her off and she didn't want to leave when we picked her up! Same thing when I took her to the gym…when I got there to pick her up she didn't want to leave. Made me smile. My baby is growing up and branching out. :)
- She is eating more and more kinds of food. Still in love with turkey, chicken nuggets, milk, grapes, and apples. She actually ate an entire kid's meal at Chick-fil-A one day. Impressive!
- She takes a solid 2-3 hour nap during the day and usually goes to sleep between 8pm-9pm at night and wakes up between 7am-8am in the morning. Oh, what I'd give to have her sleep til 10am sometimes!!!
- She now folds her hands and bows her head when we pray at dinner. It's cute. :)
- She tries to sing the ABC's and successfully sings one line of Ring Around the Rosy: "Ashes, ashes, we all fall" haha.
- She tries to count and knows most of the numbers, but gets them out of order. :)
- She loves to drink out of normal cups with straws. If she sees you with a cup with a straw she WILL ask you for a "dink!" ;)
She's a hoot and we love her to death. Here are my favorite pictures of her from the past month…

Sawyer @ 19 months
Our big girl is 19 months! Can't believe it!!! The time is a flying'…
- Sawyer is a funny little girl! She makes us laugh all day whether it's her silly dancing (she knows how to do so many different kinds of dances it's unreal, haha) or her running out of the room continuously yelling "bye!" with her hand behind her back waving to us, or her peek-a-boo's with her blankie! She is so sweet and we love her to death. We think she is going to be such a sweet big sister because she already adores babies and holds her arms out to hold them. We were in Wal-mart not long ago when she saw a baby in a car seat and started yelling "baby! baby!" so we finally took the cart over there just so she could see. Haha. If zoo's were filled with babies, I think she'd enjoy that more than the animals. :)
- Sawyer still loves Elmo and watches Sesame Street a few times a week. She dances to the music they play and will smile when Elmo comes on the screen. Every time I grab the remote she starts saying "Elmo? Elmo?" It's cute and makes me feel bad if I don't put it on Elmo. Haha.
- She still loves playing with her dolls and feeds them with her little doll bottles and pushes them around in her little doll stroller.
- Sawyer adores Casey and loves to rough-house with him. He throws on the bed, chases her around the house, gives her pony-rides, and hangs her upside down. She loves it all!
- We think Sawyer is already a little athletic! Haha! She LOVES to kick or throw any type of ball and has actually gotten quite good at it! She gets this funny determined face that we laugh at. It's cute:)
- Sawyer still loves Lucy and says "ruff!" anytime she barks. She also goes over to her and gives her hugs and lets Lucy lick her hand (although I wish she wouldn't do that part, haha). She likes Ella, too, but usually abuses her so I have to hold Sawyer back so Ella can escape, with her tail still in tact!!
- Sawyer still loves to go outside and I feel badly for her when it is cold out because she will say "outside? outside?" and it's just too cold to let her go run around out there. I'll be looking forward to better weather for my toddler.
- She is still a momma's girl and I enjoy it :) When it comes to bedtime she wants me and will push Casey away. It is kind of funny! He knows she loves him, though :) She freaks out when he comes home - always standing at the back door when she hears the garage open saying "DA DA!!!" :)
- Sawyer is still a fan of bath time. She loves splashing around and playing with all of her little squirt toys. She also has a bath book that she "reads" every time she's in the tub.
- Sawyer runs, skips (in a funny sort of way), walks backwards, turns in circles, and does somersaults. She is very active physically. She hardly ever just wants to sit still (unless she is tired or doesn't feel well).
- She now gives hugs & kisses on demand - I LOVE THIS of course ;)
- She is in size 3 diapers and mostly 18 month clothing. She wears size 4 or 5 shoe (depending on the brand). She is around 32 inches tall (maybe a little taller than that - that was last month's measurement) and I'm guessing around 22 pounds or so, but that's a total guess! She still has 16 teeth, but has been cutting some more in the back for a couple weeks now - it has resulted in some not-fun diapers…hoping they break through soon.
- She names many different body parts…nose, hair, teeth, eyes, ears, mouth, feet, toes, belly button, hands, knees, etc. She has also started taking off her clothes and putting them back on - not always successfully, but pretty close :) She is obsessed with her shoes. If there are some laying around she WILL bring them to me to put on her. And lately she tries herself and insists in walking around with them half-on/half-off and on the wrong feet. :)
- The vocabulary boom has been fun!! She will try to mimic most words I tell her, but I don't put them under her "current words list" until she says them on her own ;)
Sawyer's current words (around 40 or so and I'm sure I'm leaving some off):
- Momma
- no (she has stopped saying this as much – thank goodness!:)
- Dada
- Daddy
- Lucy
- dog
- ruff!
- Elmo
- baby
- bottle
- outside (this one sounds so cute:)

- shoes *new obsession with this word
- book *new obsession with this word
- bubbles *randomly figured out she knew this word the other day when she pulled a container of bubbles out from under the sink and just started saying “bubbles!” over and over again…I didn’t even teach her that! It’s crazy, people. Kids are amazing little sponges.
- bless you (the other night I was up with her and she was sneezing over and over and I said “bless you” each time and finally she turned around, put her finger on my nose and said “bless you!” Adorable!!)
