A Birthday Day

A couple of weekends ago we had two birthday parties to attend! The first one was our nephew Caleb! He turned 5 years old and had a superhero party! We got him a couple of superhero posters and a fish for their salt water tank! He named him Batman :)
One of the favorite toys…I think the men loved it more than Caleb ;)
Sawyer's first birthday party to attend!

Later that night Sawyer stayed with Mimi & Poppy and Casey and I went to dinner and Top Golf for Jeremiah's 29th birthday! We went to Genki Sushi for dinner! It was my first time to eat sushi and I loved it! :) Casey on the other hand…did not. Haha! I doubt anyone is surprised since he is so picky.
Look at those chopsticks skillz! ;)
While waiting for our spot at Top Golf we played several massive games of Jenga!! It was fun!

Playing golf! It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to go back and use the rest of our game card!

I have my own pink, left-handed clubs ;)

Don't Laugh Too Hard...

Yep, that's me.

Playing golf.

You can laugh a little. Casey does.

I got clubs for Christmas. This was my first time trying them out! My mom lives on a little 9-hole, par-3 course and Casey and took the ole clubs out for a spin! I will say, at first, it was so funny even I laughed. I kept missing the ball. Over and over. And over. But after a while, and you can even ask Casey, I got better! There were 2 holes where I even "tied" Casey…however, he definitely wasn't trying very hard. But still! I was proud. I plan to take lessons this summer if I can squeeze them in my busy schedule. We'll see!

14th Annual Micah Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament

On April 24th Casey put on the 14th annual Micah Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament at Buffalo Creek to raise money for c|Life's youth group! This year the tournament raised $17,000! That was a big increase over last year! I even had some fun at this tournament, but I was not playing golf. Instead, I got to drive around a golf cart and at the 9th hole I asked each team if they would like to "buy a drive" and take their first shot a lot closer to the hole for $20 a team (also part of the fundraiser). Another cool part of this golf tournament is the silent auction! Casey and I won a portrait session with Jared Rey, a photographer that Casey went to high school with and that we now go to church with. We're very excited about this because many of our friends at church have had their pictures done with him and they are very good!

Let me leave you with the 1st place winners at the golf tournament and the tournament host (Casey)!

Austin Anniversary Trip: Day 4

Our fourth and final day of our 2-year anniversary trip to Austin was pretty short. We slept in, checked out of the hotel around noon, and went to Texadelphia for lunch. I've never before had a Philly Cheesesteak, and I gotta say, I'm not too big of a fan. Casey loves them though.

Anyway, after that we went to Peter Pan's Putt-Putt Course! It's been in business in Austin for 50 years. It's odd and eclectic and that's party of why it is fun! :) After our 2 rounds of putt-putt, we were off to the Round Rock Outlet Malls. We spent a few hours there and each got 2 pair of shoes - good deals on all 4! When we were done with our shopping we headed back to Rockwall to see our sweet animals, Lucy & Ella.

I got a hole-in-one on the first hole!! Ha ha!

Back home to my sweet puppy!!

Thank you so much to all of our friends and family for your support and love over the past 2 years. We are very thankful for you all.

Random Updates

Today I let my students vote on the name for our new class pet, the gerbil. I know her name was Ginny, but I wanted to give them some "ownership" over her, so I let them nominate names, and then they voted on them. Well, the verdict is in. Her new name is Skittles. Sounds like 6th graders named her, doesn't it? I think so. I am okay with it though. It was better than some of the other nominations though. Ms. Sunshine was a hoot. I really hoped they didn't vote on that so I didn't have to refer to the gerbil as Ms. Sunshine, lol.

This gerbil is very active. I think I may have to remove the "running wheel" during class because that thing is constantly on it! I think she thinks she is getting away. Isn't that sad? I suppose we can be like that sometimes, too. Running from God, but not getting anywhere.

On to other news, Casey is away on a mini-trip. He is playing golf in the "Tin Cup." Roger Clark (my former CFA boss) puts it on every year, and he invites about 25 guys to come and play in East Texas. They stay at his lake house (except Casey and a few others are staying at a hotel due to lack of room for everyone). He left the house at 5:25am this morning in order to get to Chickfila by 5:45. They headed out to East Texas and teed off at 8am. They'll get back tomorrow evening. I think they play 45 holes in all. I think Casey would do this monthly if he could. If it weren't $175, I might let him! :)

I think someone with some resources needs to plan a girls' mini-trip. I know people do this, but it is normally geared for older women, I think. I want a weekend of massages, manicures, pedicures, and shopping :) Too bad that costs more than $175. Maybe I'll get to spend that much on clothes or something since he's getting to do that on GOLF--I cannot think of something I would like to spend money on any less. Ha ha. The difference in guys and girls (I know a lot of girls play golf, but not many of them would rather pay to play than shop)!

Speaking of money....I GET PAID IN TWO DAYS!! WOO HOO! For those of you who don't know...this will be my first real pay check ever. EVER. I think my last pay check over $100 was at Chickfila, which would be like 4 years ago. AND I've basically been working for two months with no pay. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait! woo hoo!
