~Sawyer has been crazy active this month. She runs all around everywhere we go. She wants to be down and walking. She is obsessed with balls and freaks out anytime we see one and wants to sit on it if it's big, or hold it and throw it if it is small enough. One day when we went into Target she saw the big, huge, red balls outside on the ground and she started pointing and screaming, "Ball!! Ball!!" We cracked up. We let her sit on it and she started trying to make it bounce. She soon realized it was not like the big, bouncy ball we have at home. Last night when we went to Wal-Mart she saw the big tower of balls by the toy section and again freaked out until we let her have one in the cart while we shopped. It's super funny! :) (She also knows how to throw the ball to you and wait for you to throw it back).
~She had swim lessons this summer and now loves the water. She will kick her legs, splash, and put her face in the water. She doesn't mind going under either, which is really surprising for her age. I am really glad we did the lessons.
~She waves and says hi to almost anyone that walks into a room (when she is a good mood, of course. haha).
~She likes to sit in kid-sized chairs and "read" or "color."
~She weighs around 20 pounds and is about 30.5 inches tall. We are measuring her on her little wall chart each month now (we didn't get it til she was 15 months, so there are only 2 marks on the chart right now;) She is still wearing size 3 diapers and most of her clothes are 12 months (but she still wears a lot of 6-9 months, too. Still a tiny thing!).
~She still has 12 teeth but is currently cutting 4 more (all at the same time, ugh) and they have been the roughest so far and making her far more cranky than usual.
~She sleeps from about 8pm to 8am (give or take a little on either end) and usually takes a 2 hour nap from 11am-1pm-ish. On a really tired day she may sleep 3 hours.
~Sawyer is saying 15+ words pretty regularly. She says…
- momma
- dada
- dog
- ball
- uh oh
- no
- ow! (like ouch)
- meow - she says this every morning when she hears Ella meowing…it cracks us up!
- ruff! - she'll repeat it when we say it…and any time she hears a dog barking she automatically says "dog"
- milk (but right now it still just sounds like "miiii")
- thank you (it doesn't sound nearly that clear, haha, but you can tell what it is)
- hi - almost always paired with a wave and a smile :)
- bye bye
- boo! - this is a new one and she says it back to us when we are playing peek-a-boo or just playing with her!
- ba (bottle)
- Elmo (This word has greatly improved over time and now she says it to where other people--besides just me--understand what she is saying…she also knows to go get him and gives him a hug. AND she knows that he is on her bib (She has 2 Elmo bibs) I think this is the cutest word that she is saying right now ;))
- baby (she loves her baby dolls!) and she also says the word when a baby is crying! I don't know how she learned that one since we are rarely around crying babies, and I haven't really pointed it out before.
- Poppy (Casey's dad's grandpa name) - we've heard her say this one a couple of times :)
~Sawyer loves her dada and still gets all excited when he gets home from work. She says "dada" in a happier voice than any other word. :) I'm sure it makes him happy!
~She has gotten way better at eating. She is trying more and more food and liking more and more things. Right now her very favorites are carrots, turkey, raisins, and gold fish.
~She likes milk in her sippy cup and it's a good way to make her happy in the car. ;)
~Sawyer can point to her hair, bow, mouth, teeth, nose, eyes, and toes on command. It's pretty cute & it astounds me how smart she is! Some of those things I didn't even teach her, she just somehow knows where they are!!! Haha!
~She claps her hands (without being told or watching someone else do it) when the Veggie Tales song "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" song comes on in the car.
~She loves to dance anytime music comes on or if you just say "Sawyer dance!" haha.
~Sawyer can do a lot of things on command now…I can tell her to get me a book to read and she will get one and come sit in my lap. I can tell her to bring me something that she is holding and she will do that. I can ask her to change her diaper and she will usually grab her pants and then walk to her room, haha. We can tell her we are going to take a bath or go to bed and she will walk to the appropriate room. I can ask her if she went "poo poo" and if she did, she will grab her diaper--this one is pretty exciting because she knows what it is and I'm thinking of beginning to try potting training her around October (and see if she is ready). She will go get her baby or Elmo if told. She will let the dog out of the crate when told. She knows to help pick up toys and put in a box or basket when told (and if I'm doing it, too).
~Sawyer knows how to give hugs and kisses and it's super sweet:)
~Sawyer loves swinging on her swing set or taking a ride in her wagon.
~She got a table and chairs recently and can climb up onto a chair by herself and will take books with her to "read" at the table. She also likes to pretend she is writing on paper with a pen. We haven't given her crayons just yet…I first want to look up the best ways to get them off the table or wall in case that happens ;)
~She knows that if I say "Daddy's home" to go to the backdoor and if I say "G-Momma's here!" to go to the front door ;)
Man, she knows and does a lot of things now! I can't believe how fast she is growing up and how quickly she learns new things! Here are some pictures of the last month :)

Say what you will about my parenting, but this was Sawyer's first big girl bath. Yes, I admit it…I kept her in the baby bath tub until 15 months old. I know it sounds crazy to all of you.
