Week 31

Week 31

Fruit/Veggie/Item
baby weighs about the same as 4 naval oranges
Size
This week our baby girl weighs about 3.3 pounds and is over 16 inches long

Baby Changes (Source: www.babycenter.com)
She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. She's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Best Moment this Week
At my doctor's appointment my doctor surprised me by 1) walking in the door! He just had heart surgery in late January and wasn't supposed to be back at work until March 1st! and 2) he gave me a sonogram! I haven't had one since week 17 so I was really excited! I know I am luckier than most because this was my 5th sonogram. Just one of the reasons I love my doctor!

Gender
GIRL! Sawyer Grace:)

Movement
My dear little girl is kicking me left and right and shifting positions constantly! She has been leaving her foot in my right side a lot;)

Food Craving
Been eating a lot of apples! Also still obsessed with milk and icecream!

Sleep
Some night sleep is great, sometimes I have to get up a lot to use the restroom. One night I woke up to sharp pains, but they eventually went away.

What I am looking forward to
I am getting excited about my baby showers! :)

Symptoms
acid reflux is the most common for sure.

Weight
I have gained 24 pounds total and 5 of those are in the last 2 weeks. Kinda crazy! Hopefully I don't start looking too huge! :)

Week 30

Week 30

Wow! 30 weeks sounds so far along to me! I can't believe that in about 10 weeks I will get to meet my sweet daughter. Most of this pregnancy has flown by, and I am so excited to spend the next 10 weeks with my husband preparing to be the best parents we can be for our sweet baby girl!

Fruit/Veggie/Item
a head of cabbage

Size
Sawyer's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage).

Baby Changes (Source: www.babycenter.com)
A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

Best Moment this Week
Valentine's Day for sure! I have the best husband in the world - I really do feel like he is one in a million. I love that he chooses to celebrate the dumb holiday because he knows that I would enjoy it. Some men are not like that and I love Casey for it! A totally different post about Valentine's Day to come;)

Gender
GIRL! Sawyer Grace:)

Movement
My dear little girl is kicking me left and right and shifting positions constantly!

Food Craving
Been eating a lot of avocados, apples, and strawberries! Also still obsessed with milk and icecream!

Sleep
I've been sleeping well and not wanting to get up! :)

What I am looking forward to
I am getting excited about my baby showers! :)

Symptoms
grrr… still acid reflux :( That and back pain are definitely the worse pregnancy symptoms!

Weight
Oh goodness, I don't even want to know! Haha! I have grown even since last week! I weighed 19 lbs last week and think that I've probably gained one or two more this week…my next doctor's appointment is February 25th, so we'll see how much I weigh then - blah! Haha! :)

Here are a couple of 30 week pictures!

Week 29

Week 29

Fruit/Veggie/Item
a butternut squash

Size
She is now 2 1/2 pounds and is a tad over 15 inches long from the top of her head to her heels.

Baby Changes (Source: www.babycenter.com)
Your baby's muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because her bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day. *I'll let y'all know that I have been drinking milk galore so this will not be a problem!!*

Best Moment this Week
I have had several good moments this week…First, Casey and I did a little experiment with a flash light the other night - I put the flashlight up to my belly and moved it around for about a second trying to find Sawyer's face and she started kicking and freaking out! Casey and I both saw my stomach twitching all over and it was quite funny!

Second, I took back some winter maternity clothes that I hadn't worn yet and got 4 new spring/warmer weather shirts that I am excited about getting to wear when it warms up! Since I only own about 15 articles of clothing that fit, it is nice to get some new clothes:)

Lastly, We also put shelves in Sawyer's closet today and it was fun to get to do some stuff in her room! I put my man to work on snow days, but he is getting to play some basketball now that he has worked! Haha! ;)

Gender
GIRL! Sawyer Grace:)

Movement
Sawyer is still kicking powerfully! I like how much she kicks because I never have to wonder if she's okay or not!

Food Craving
I've been eating a LOT of ice cream - pretty much everyday :)

Sleep
still sleeping pretty well, but wake up easier than I use to.

What I am looking forward to
I am getting excited about my baby showers! :)

Symptoms
I have started having Braxton Hicks!! It is NOT comfortable and I hope it goes away! I also have the occasional acid reflux, back pain, and constantly have to use the restroom…which I'm sure Casey just loves when we are out and I have to make several stops in the ladies' room:)

Weight
I had my doctor's appointment yesterday and I have gained 19 lbs since my first appointment   at 8 weeks (11 weeks ago)! I was kind of surprised, but I'm thinking it is due to all that ice cream I've been eating…
Not too much longer now...

TWINS!

I am now an aunt to 3! Since I don't have any brothers or sisters of my own, I think 2 nephews and 1 niece is pretty good! :) My newest niece and nephew are so stinking cute! They were born February 2nd at 9:50am. and 9:52am. Sadie Dawn was born first at 4lbs and 14ozs and Luke Roger followed 2 minutes later at 5lbs 15ozs. They are healthy and adorable!! Here are some pictures of the cuties!

 Checking her out:)

Casey checking to see how much hair she has
TWINS! :) This picture wasn't all that hard, by the way!
We went back to see the babies when they were 3 days old and back at home
here I am with Sadie again:) I like this picture:)
Mommy & Luke
Uncle Casey and Sadie
cute little brother - Luke
Aren't they some of the cutest babies you've ever seen?! They are so tiny and easy to hold! Sadie rolled over that same day when we left and she was just 3 days old! That's crazy since she's only 4 lbs plus the fact that she was only 3 days old!! Crazy! Can't wait for Sawyer Grace to be able to play with her twin cousins:)

Birthday Celebration!

So for Casey's birthday I took him to Hattie's in the Bishop Arts District. He didn't know where we were going, but eventually figured it out when I kept driving onto I-35. The food was more delicious than we imagined and we both ate nearly all of our massive servings! That is like Casey, but unlike me…but actually it is like pregnant me. :) I feel like eating is one of my main hobbies these days. ;) I kind of wish I had taken a picture of our food. It was really good. Casey got steak and I got the catfish that had an amazing lemon butter sauce on it. Yum. I am getting hungry for it right now! Anyway, after dinner we walked around and went into the many shops that are scattered up and down the street. I really like the Bishop Arts District. We have eaten at 3 restaurants there now (2 of them was with the Rickersons!). Here are some pictures from after dinner.
The next night Casey's disciple now plans got canceled so we were able to go out with Charlie and Ginni! We ate at Fuzzy's Taco Shop and then saw The King's Speech at The Angelika! It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed the movie. It was everyone's first time at Fuzzy Taco and the Angelika, so that was neat! I didn't take any pictures though, and I wish I would have :(
Sunday was Casey & my Momma Sheila's joint birthday party! Casey turned 28 and my Momma Sheila turned 68! They are exactly 40 years and a day apart! We had a little party at my mom's house for them.
Here they are:) You can't really tell, but they are "sharing" the 8 on the cake, haha!
First it was Momma Sheila's turn in the birthday chair! :)
And then Casey's!
Here comes my spoiled husband's presents…
First, he got some new basketball shoes (from me). He plays up at 24 Hour a lot! Then he got new "dressy" tennis shoes…I know he's a man, but that's what he wanted. :) These are from my Momma Sheila.
Then he got some new workout/running shoes from my Uncle Russell…and a new North Face jacket from my mom!

Isn't he spoiled?! I know it sounds crazy, but he really wanted all 3 of those shoes. Haha!
Then his birthday celebration continued onto Monday night when I made him a birthday cake for our CG :) I had him and Ginni take a picture together because both of their birthdays are in January (just a few weeks apart). Charlie and Casey both thought this was weird, but Ginni and I thought it was funny! :) Happy 27th birthday to Ginni and 28th to Casey! :)
Well that ends Casey's birthday celebration! It lasted a complete 4 days:)
Hope you enjoyed it, babe!

Week 28

Week 28 - First week of the 3rd Trimester!

Fruit/Veggie/Item
a Chinese cabbage

Size
She is now two and quarter pounds and 14.8 inches long from the top of her head to her heels.

Baby Changes (Source: www.babycenter.com)
By this week, she can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Best Moment this Week
hands down when my niece and nephew were born yesterday!!! Sadie Dawn is 4lb and 14oz and Luke Roger is 5lb 15oz. I got to hold them both yesterday and it just made me look forward that much more to getting to hold my own sweet baby!

I also enjoyed getting to show my Momma Sheila and Uncle Russell the baby's room on Sunday when they were here for Casey's and Momma Sheila's birthday party.

Gender
sweet baby girl! Sawyer Grace:)

Movement
Sawyer is kicking powerfully now! She punches my desk while I'm at work and hits my computer if I on my laptop at home! She even kicked the babies yesterday while I was holding them:)

Food Craving
ice cream I guess - but I always like ice cream. I'm just letting myself eat it a lot more often.

Sleep
sleeping pretty well these days! Wake up pretty easily in the mornings, which is kind of a nice change from my typical snooze-hitting ritual.

What I am looking forward to
I am getting excited about my baby showers! :) and my next doctor's appointment on February 8th.

Symptoms
Acid reflux - UGH. Some back soreness. Having to use the restroom wayyy too many times a day/night.

Weight
I won't know exactly until February 8th, but my guess right now is about 15 lbs.

Baby Gender Party

Did I seriously forget to blog about this?! How is that possible? It is by far one of the most fun things I have done since being pregnant. I was kind of against this in the beginning because it feels very narcissistic and no one cares if you're baby is a boy or a girl as much as you do…but in the end, I thought it would be fun and good memory so we did it (after talking Casey into it)! On November 17th Casey and I went in to get our free 3D sonogram! Our doctor volunteers at a Christian clinic once a month where they do free 3D sonograms in order to talk women into keeping their babies - it's basically the opposite of a Planned Parenthood. *Side note: I love that my doctor is a Christian man that sees the value of human life. Anyway, he told us to come in on this day for a free 3D which I very much appreciated! At this time he and the sonographer agreed on the baby's gender and the sonographer said they were 99% sure. She even laughed like she was so positive that it was more like 100%, so I kind of thought she must've seen some boy parts:) We didn't look at the screen, and we told them not to tell us. They didn't even talk to each other out loud (the doctor and sonographer)…they just kind of grunted and typed up whatever and then printed the picture. We had them put the picture in an envelope that I brought with a card and the sonographer wrote the baby's gender on their and sealed it. I took the card straight to the bakery and had them make a cake that was either pink or blue on the inside. We had the party the next night (it was so hard to wait that long!), and we had a little over 20 of our friends and family come over for some food and fun! Each person voted whether they thought the baby was going to be a boy or a girl. Girl won - 12 to 9. After counting the votes we decided to cut the cake! It was quite the ordeal for me - I was so nervous to see, especially in front of everyone! I got a couple of videos so I will post them. They make me laugh. :)

Bumpy Belly

I don't at all believe this picture is real, especially after the research I did about it. But wouldn't it be cool if it was? I've been sitting on the couch (on my snow day;) watching my belly bump around and twitch all over. This baby girl has got to be one of the most active babies there are. It seems like every half hour or so she will move a crazy amount and bulges can be seen from most directions on my stomach. I will see/feel a bulge by my belly button and way over by my side at the same time. Guess she's getting a little bit snug in there and is trying to stretch out! :) Yesterday I was sitting at my desk at school and I was leaning forward a bit to type on my laptop when the skinny metal drawer got kicked and made a noise! My stomach was barely touching it, but Sawyer Grace kicked it and it actually moved! I have experienced this multiple times at home when I am on the couch leaning far back and my laptop does a little dance as she kicks it around! It is definitely something to marvel over! How can a 2 lb baby inside my body move a laptop?! I plan to prove this with video for those of you who do not believe me, but you can ask my family, too because they have seen my stomach moving around as well. I started feeling this baby at 15 weeks and my nurse acted as if that wasn't possible, but she was very wrong - that same movement is what I have felt this entire time. Casey was even able to feel her outside my stomach at 20 weeks! Maybe my skin in extra thin?! Haha! Anyway, I looked back at my blog and realized I never posted the 3D pictures from November 17th (the day the doctor wrote that we were having a girl!). Here they are! I think she is extra pretty already. :)

This picture is so crazy because you can see her entire little body.
She is covering her face with her arm, but you can see her little ear, her rib cage, and her little legs and a foot.
The umbilical cord is what is in front of her stomach/chest area
The cord was in the way, so he "pushed passed" it with sound waves, that's why her face looks a little blurry. Technology really is crazy.
The cord is in the way on the right, but you can see her hands up by her face and her nose and mouth.
Casey and I were talking the other night about whether our baby will have any hair…I had some dark hair when I was first born, but it all fell out and I was completely bald for a long time (almost 2 whole years…) and Casey had a little bit of hair, but not much. Good thing headbands are in style because this baby will be wearing them a lot! :)

Can't wait to meet you sweet baby girl!
